Eleanor McGowan, professional artist based in Largs, Ayrshire, is a modern Scottish colourist and Scottish contemporary artist who draws inspiration for her still life, landscape, seascape, from the light & activity on the water , Ayrshire and the islands of Scotland , treasured memories, quirky happenings, figurative artworks and her daily life.
A riot of bold colour used in a dynamic yet contemplative way, often with wryly humorous titles and always with striking character and multi-layered meaning, her works invite & celebrate ongoing interest, discussion & intrigue, whilst being a pleasure to view & live with daily.
An elected artist member of the GSWA (Glasgow Society
of Women Artists) and the PAI (Paisley Art Institute) , Eleanor has been the
recipient of prestigious awards, and has exhibited at many well-known contemporary
galleries and landmarks, including the Torrance Gallery, Broughton Gallery,
Whitehouse Gallery, Rowan Gallery, Red Barn Gallery, Southside Gallery, Ruby
Orange Gallery, Seagull Gallery, Greens and Blues Gallery, Overt Gallery, Lille
Gallery, MacMillan Art Show for cancer relief , RGI ( Royal Glasgow Institute
of Fine Art ) and at the Edinburgh Art Festival. As a leading Scottish contemporary
artist, her paintings are hung around the globe .

Her works, in acrylics, oils & mixed media, have a wide appeal, and may include elements of yachts under sail or fascinating landscapes, as well as still lives on a myriad of subjects. Some works feature intriguing figures, and many incorporate symbols & devices unique to the artist.
